Description
Fuel is delivered to the injectors by an electronic fuel pump at a predetermined pressure. Fuel is sprayed into the intake manifold (manifold injection) or straight into the combustion chamber by the injectors (petrol direct injection). The electric fuel pump transports the fuel from the tank to the injectors in manifold injection. A DC motor in the pump assembly draws in the gasoline sitting in your gas tank, which is how your modern electronic fuel pump works. It then transfers the gasoline up the fuel line to the fuel rail, injected into a cylinder. Afterwhich, it is ignited by mixing it with air and a spark.
