Mercury Impeller Repair Kit is for Outboard Motor that small gear case engines under 9.9 hp. The impeller is necessary for the cooling system to distribute coolant to avoid overheating the engine. The impeller is a rotating component equipped with vanes or blades used in turbomachinery like centrifugal pumps. It transfers energy from the motor that drives the pump to the fluid pump. The flow deflection accelerating the fluid allows mechanical energy at the vanes to be convert into pump power output. Failure impellers are due to cavitation, erosion, and corrosion. When the impeller is not functioning, it will cause overheating of the engine. It will cause big problems.
