Description
When a low current switch activates a high current circuit, such as a starter motor circuit, an electrical switch called a solenoid switch is employed. When the key switch is turned on and the gearshift is in neutral, the circuit between the battery and the solenoid switch is complete. The solenoid switch triggers a heavy-duty switch that connects the battery to the starter motor. A solenoid switch contacts the starter's driving pinion when the ignition key is turned to the Start position.
