Description
A high coolant temperature alarm is used in generator protections to notify the operator when the engine has a high coolant temperature. A coolant temperature sender or switch can indicate a high coolant temperature. An engine protection device called a coolant temperature sender keeps track of the engine's coolant temperature. It is often screwed into the engine block and, depending on the oil pressure in the engine, it can produce a variety of numbers. Different output methods are available for oil pressure senders. Sometimes resistance, capacitance, or voltage are utilized, although, in diesel generators, they are typical of the resistive variety. Sometimes, the oil pressure sender and oil pressure switch are included in a single device.
