Description
A sliding sleeve is a basic component for the completion of an oil or gas well. Shutting off flow from one or more reservoir zones and adjusting pressure between zones are two of its principal purposes. There are two types of sliding sleeves: open/close and choke. The state of the sleeves can be altered from totally Open to fully closed. Their primary functions include shutting off flow from one or more reservoir zones and regulating pressure between zones. Sliding sleeves are built into the tubing string for single- or multiple-tubing-string completions to establish communication between the tubing string and the casing annulus.
