Dirt and corrosion are well-removed, and vital lubricant is well-sealed in the engine tilt tube. It increases the life of a steering wire. You can stay focused on the water thanks to the additional protection provided by the Cable Gard. For optimal convenience, this protection fits most outboard tilt tubes. You were designed for outboard tilt tubes with a threaded termination on the port side. Tilt tube seal by Cable-Gard. Auxiliary lock nut (needed only if the tilt tube threads are too long for the seal to be well-mounted to the engine's existing tilt tube lock nut).
